Bed Bug Closeup

COMMON BED BUG QUESTIONS

DIY methods often miss eggs or bugs in hidden areas. Professionals have the training, access to effective tools (heat, steam, industrial strength treatments), and safety equipment to fully eradicate infestations and prevent recurrence.

Look for these signs:

  • Small reddish or rust-coloured stains on bedding or mattress seams (blood spots)

  • Dark spots (bed bug feces) or shed skins in mattress seams, furniture joints, behind skirting boards

  • Clusters or line-patterns of itchy bites on skin

  • A sweet, musty odour in severe infestations

Bed bugs are not known to transmit diseases, but bites can cause irritation, allergic reactions, swelling, and sleep disturbance. The psychological stress of being infested can also be significant.

They don’t typically cause structural damage like termites or borers, but heavy infestations can lead to staining, odours, damage to upholstery or bedding, and financial loss for businesses or rental properties.
